Anthony Bowens, current AEW Tag Team Champion along with Max Caster, has revealed that he has been contacted several times by WWE in the past.
The member of the Acclaimed, introduced to the world of pro-wrestling by “our” Santino Marellabegan his wrestler career way back in 2013, performing in various independent federations such as the Combat Zone Wrestling.
In 2016 came the first big call from the WWEwho called him to perform in a Live Event weblog NXT extension: on that very occasion, however, Bowens suffered a serious injury in the match that saw him fight against the Authors of Pain.
Anthony Bowens story
Interviewed by Chris Van Vliet, Anthony Bowens he recounted the several times he has been contacted by WWEwho until the end tried to grab the wrestler from New Jersey.
“In 2015, they invited me and Bianca Belair to the Performance Center. They told me to keep in touch, then in 2017 they told me that in 2018 they wanted to bring me to WWE. I prepared for this, I did everything, only the contract was missing and it never arrived. Anything. They have ghosted me for years.
Then I performed at AEW Dark, and they got back to me to ask if I was still a free agent. They offered me a contract, I said yes, but they never sent it to me. At the same time though, Tony Khan wanted me. When he presented me with the contract I signed and told WWE I had to decline their offer.”
When my Nana passed in 2015 I promised her I’d be a success. Nana, I made it!
