Extreme Rules 2022: some ideas to enrich the card

Extreme Rules is scheduled for next week and here are a couple of ideas to complete the card trying to make it “Extremely Perfect”

It’s not just about the next PLE but the Stamford company is trying to put on a memorable show for all fans. Most of the WWE Universe claims that Clash At The Castle it was the best PLE of the year for intensity and atmosphere but we know that a historically impactful show like Extreme Rules cannot be outdone.

At the moment some matches have been announced such as Edge versus Finn Balor in an “I Quit” Match or The Ladder Match between Bianca Belair and Bayley for the female title. These two matches should be the opening of the event and the Main Event. There are still other matches that could enrich the plate offered by WWE and bring the show offered on a par with the show held in Cardiff last month at least in the eyes of the fans.

Extreme Rules: what matches can be added to make it perfect?

Extreme Rules presents again an incomplete card and historically brings the various feuds seen in the previous months to a climax in clashes that open the doors to particular stipulations and an extreme version. This year the WWE focuses a lot on this PLE and here are some ideas developed by SportSkeeda on some possible matches to add to the evening:

  • Add a US title match with a strong stipulation

The US title was not defended at Clash At The Castle but the champion nonetheless Bobby Lashley has shown several times that he wants to be a fighting champion, credible and with a strong relationship with the fans. In recent months they have tried to scratch it: Tommaso Ciampa, The Miz, Aj Styles and Seth Rollins have come close but no one was able to snatch his belt.

As already told, it seems that an Extreme Rules match is on the WWE Creative Team table and the idea could be a match to 3 involving The Miz and Dexter Lumis, which seems perfectly in line with what we have seen so far. The stipulation could be a No DQ which would be suitable for inclusion in the Extreme Rules scenario

  • Move the IC title match between Sheamus and Gunther and maybe turn it into a Steel Cage

One of the matches that drew fans to Cardiff was certainly the one for the Intercontinental Title between Sheamus and Gunther: The two athletes gave birth to a fantastic performance but surely that was not the final chapter of their feud. Indeed, it is expected a rematch to the first SmackDown show of the new season which will start exactly the night before Extreme Rules.

A match scheduled on that occasion to attract media attention for the start of the new season. However, many suggest that it be moved to the PLE, perhaps within a cage it would be even better. Considering what happened in Cardiff, we can only imagine what could happen with the two athletes locked in the cage in a match perhaps even more balanced given that the IMPERIUM and the Brawling Brutes would be forced to stay out.

We will see if in the next episodes the WWE will confirm these ideas or not and we will see which will be the official card.
